Michael Anthony Lopez

Michael Anthony Lopez, age 64, of Savanna, IL, passed away October 14, 2022. Cremation rites have been accorded and family and friends are invited to share in Michael’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

Michael was born January 14, 1958, in Hollywood, CA, the son of Alexander and Alicia (Duarte) Lopez. He attended schools in the La Puente, CA area, graduating from Nogales High School with the class of 1976. Michael went to work driving a truck for his family’s trucking company for the better part of the next decade, before moving to Savanna when his parents and family decided re-settle, here in Illinois. He went to work for Nestle Purina, in Clinton, IA, contributing to the company for more than 10 years.

Michael was a man who valued a simple life. He was a homebody who cherished time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Being an uncle to those children brought him so much joy. He also loved to cook, treating his family to his famous tamales on holidays. Later in his life, true to his love and commitment to family, Michael served as a caregiver to his elderly mother.

Michael will be dearly missed by his mother, Alicia Lopez; brother, Danny (Priscilla) Lopez, of Savanna; sisters, Aurora Blais, of Savanna, and Elisa (Tommy) Ponce, of California; nephews, Armando, Danny, Jerry, Joey, Tommy, Roger, Mikey, Robert, and Angel; nieces, Vanessa, Adrianna, Alexis, Stephanie, Alex, and Felicia; and great nephew, Armando III. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Alexander Lopez, and sister, Elizabeth Lopez.
