Michael "Mike" Lartz

Michael Lynn Lartz, Sr., age 65 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the visitation. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A memorial fund has been established in Mike’s memory.
Mike was born on April 13, 1952, the son of Walter and Virginia (Lamm) Lartz in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Thomson High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. Mike married Tina Hatheway in 1977 and later married Marie Druett-Goss on June 13, 1986.
Mike worked 35 years for Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Freeport, Illinois, before retiring in 2012. He enjoyed Garden Tractor Pulling and was a member of the Mississippi Valley Garden Tractor Pulling Association. Mike enjoyed going to flea markets, collecting antique toys, diecast models, and watching WWE Wrestling. Mike always looked forward to his annual trip to the Ertl Museum in Dyersville, Iowa. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Cubs fan. Mike was always willing to help others and was active in his children’s lives, never missing a softball or baseball game.
Mike will be dearly missed by his wife, Marie of Mt. Carroll; four sons, Chris (Beth Wendt) Goss of West Bend, Wisconsin, Chris (Sandi Pettinger) Lartz of Normal, Illinois, Michael (Lynsey Ullrich) Lartz, Jr. of Clinton, Iowa, and Thad (Nicole) Lartz of Rock Falls, Illinois; one daughter, Lillian Lartz of Mt. Carroll; ten grandchildren, David, Kassidy, Gavin, Reid, Justin, Makenzie, Megan, Paris, Devin, and Kataryna; one great grandchild, Landon; two brothers, David (Carol) Lartz of Stanford, Illinois, and Ronald Lartz of Milledgeville, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Virginia.
