Michael C. Henderson

September 30, 1947 — October 10, 2023

Michael C. Henderson, of Mt. Carroll, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 10, at his home.

Mike was born September 30, 1947, son of Don and Gertrude (Williams) Henderson. He grew up in a military family, having a Dad in the Navy for most of his childhood. Mike attended Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL, and graduated with the class of 1965. Right out of high school Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country for four years as security police in Vietnam. During his service, Mike was stationed in Oscoda, MI, where he met the love of his life, Donna Bishop. The couple knew right away they where in love, and after dating for three months they married on August 11, 1969. Together Michael and Donna raised three children, and celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Michael worked for the Civil Service for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He liked raising animals out at the family home in rural Mt. Carroll, including chickens, dogs, cats, and Donna’s horses. In his free time he liked to fish with his wife at one or more of their favorite spots around Carroll County. Mike was a friend to all, and would do anything for anyone. At the center of Mike’s life was his family. He was a proud father and grandfather, and held the time he spent with his loved ones closes to his heart.

Michael will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Donna Henderson of Mt. Carroll; three children, Amy (Greg) Ganos of Tuscon, AZ, Michael Henderson of Albuquerque, NM, and Michelle (Brad) Hubbard of Mt.
