Meta Marie Walbohm, age 93, formerly of Miles, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. Reverend Greg Geier will officiate. Burial will be in the Miles City Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, prior to the services at the church.
Meta was born June 4, 1912 in Schleswig; Schleswig-Holstein, Germany the daughter of Nicolaus and Emma (Streese) Jessen. On October 14, 1933, Meta married William A. Walbohm in Germany.
William passed away January 15, 1990.
Meta worked as a waitress at Hoenicke Café in Preston, Iowa for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, baking, canning and gardening. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston as well as the St. John’s Sarah Circle, and Rebeka Lodge.
Meta will be deeply missed by her daughter, Linda (Robert) Randecker of Savanna, Illinois; two grandchildren, Rodney (Candy) Randecker of Stockton, Illinois and Brenda Randecker of Winona, Minnesota and two great grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley. Meta was preceded in death by her husband.
