Merle Kennedy

Merle Kennedy, age 92, moved peacefully from her earthly home at Allure of Mt. Carroll to her heavenly home on January 15, 2021. Inurnment will take place on a later date, at Maplewood Cemetery, in New Lenox, IL. Family and friends are invited to share in Merle’s life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com .

Merle was born February 13, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph and Florence (Noble) Kennedy. Merle grew up and attended school in the Chicago area, then worked as a nurse aide and did clerical work for 10 years. She moved from Joliet to Lanark in 2004. While living at Allure, Merle especially enjoyed The Country Store, BINGO & any musical program.

Merle will be dearly missed by her two sons, Martin (Marcia) Clausen of Lanark and Steven Clausen of Chicago; 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kennedy of California; sister Darlene Schwader of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Jerry Kennedy of Oaklawn; Merle is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Florence, and son Daniel, seven siblings, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Clausen.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Allure of Mt. Carroll, Dr. Reese, and FHN Hospice for their care, friendship and love.
