Merle F Haring, Jr., age 73, of Savanna, IL, passed away May 31, 2024 at Javon Bea Hospital
in Rockford, IL. A private celebration of Merle’s life will be held by his family. Family and friends
are encouraged to share in Merle’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Merle was born March 22, 1951, in Savanna, IL, the son of Merle and Ruth (Green) Haring, Sr.
He graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1969, and on May 27, 1972, married
Christine Tucibat, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Savanna. Together they would
bring life to one son, and celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Merle worked 19 years for Eaton Corp., which became Alco Dispensary, then United
Beverages. He then worked construction for a number of years. He was a bit of a stubborn
man, but he took that stubbornness and turned it into a hardworking attitude and a passion for
providing for those he loved. Hard work was just part of Merle’s nature, and he spent countless
hours working on his yard, and cutting logs for his wood furnace.
Once the day’s tasks were completed, everyone knew Merle was going to end the day with an
ice-cold Old Milwaukee, and a bit of relaxing time with his family. He was a family man to his
core, so those times with his dear Christine, and son, and later grandchildren were his ultimate
reward.
Merle will be dearly missed by his wife, Christine; son, Merle (Kelly) Haring; grandchildren, Zach
(Brittny) Castro, Alex (Alyssa) Haring, and Brady (Delaney) Haring, Hailee (John) Haring; great
grandchildren, Jayde Haring and Parker Haring; brother, Don (Louise) Haring; sisters-in-law,
Cam (Darrell) Houston, Connie (John) Buckwalter, Charleen (Dick) Haring; nephews, Brett
(Anita) Haring, Brandon Haring, Scott (Michele) Houston; nieces, Renee Enloe, Stephanie (Jeff)
Schaewe, and Ruthie Jean Hurt; and many great nephews and great nieces. Merle is preceded
in death by his parents, Merle, Sr. and Ruth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Kay
Tucibat; brother, Richard “Dick” Haring, Sr.; and nephews, Shawn Miller and Richard Haring, Jr.
