Merle Ann Blackner

Merle Ann Blackner, age 76, of Clearfield, Utah, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place in Utah.
Merle was born on March 8, 1935, the daughter of Robert and Ann (Keller) Moore in Ogden, Utah. She married Steve Blackner in Ogden, Utah. Merle enjoyed talking with people and worked as a waitress in various establishments. Merle had a kind heart and loved animals. She was known for taking care of stray and abandoned animals, especially cats. She enjoyed reading, dancing, watching movies and playing the piano. Most of all, Merle loved spending time and helping with her grandchildren.
Merle is survived by three daughters, Diane L. Kottmann of Clinton, Iowa, Teresa A. Furubotten of Clearfield, Utah and Diedra Emmett of Ogden, Utah; five grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve and two brothers.
