Meredith G. Collins

Meredith G. Collins, age 87, of Savanna, Illinois passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois. Pastor Michael Jones will officiate. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna, Illinois. Meredith was born on December 14, 1918, the daughter of Wayne and Odessa (Teasdale) Schrunk in Savanna, Illinois. Meredith graduated from Savanna High School in 1936. She married John H. Collins on July 5, 1945 in Morrison, Illinois. John passed away on June 20, 1990. Meredith worked as a storeroom clerk for the Eaton Corporation in Savanna, Illinois, for over nineteen years, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed crocheting, word search books, crosswords, hunting for morel mushrooms and fishing.
Meredith will be deeply missed by two daughters, Vicky (Don) Dixon of Savanna, Illinois, Judy Getz of Savanna, Illinois; two sons, Richard (Barb) Collins of Savanna, Illinois, Michael (Janice) Collins of Muscatine, Iowa; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Meredith is preceded in death by her husband John; and one sister, Gladys Wilson.
