Maxine Mae Davids age 82, of Sabula, Iowa died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Calvary Lutheran Church Sabula, Iowa with Reverend Robert Krueger officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa. Friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, Iowa one hour prior to service. A memorial fund has been established for the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, Iowa in Maxine's memory.
Maxine was born on October 25, 1924, in Sabula, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Sarah (Johnson) Marburger. Maxine married Donald L. Davids on January 13, 1946. They were the first couple to be married at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, Iowa. Donald died on October 20, 2001
Maxine was employed at Savanna Army Depot, Savanna, Illinois, grocery stores in Sabula, and she was a cook at Unicorn Restaurant in Clinton, Iowa. Maxine along with her husband owned and operated Don's Café, Don's Tavern and Don's Mobil all in Sabula, Iowa. Maxine enjoyed socializing with her friends, boating on the river, and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Maxine will be dearly missed by three daughters, Darla (Ray) Jorgensen, of Clinton, Iowa, Donnette (Toby) Themas, of Savanna, Illinois, and Diane Davids of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Mark Bower, Jodie (James) Vance, Lori Wilson, Trisha (Scott) Olson, and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brady, Noah, and Ryan; one brother Edward Marburger, Sabula, Iowa.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; husband and two sisters Avelda Grove and Lois Rittmer.
