Maurice M. Beyer

Maurice M. Beyer, age 86, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the FHN Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Inurnment will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery.
Maurice was born March 2, 1925, in Elizabeth, Illinois, Derinda Township, the son of Henry and Laura R. (Streicher) Beyer. He attended Elizabeth Schools. Maurice married Irma J. Guenzler on April 30, 1953. She preceded him in death on September 24, 1978. Maurice later married Donna Schultz Randecker on February 12, 1982.
Maurice farmed until 1976 on his family farm. He was also the owner and operator of Maurice Beyer Excavating. Maurice was the Road Commissioner for Derinda Township for three years and was a member of the Derinda Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the NRA and enjoyed target practice. Maurice enjoyed his job excavating and moving the earth. He was a very kind person who often visited the elderly, enjoyed cracking walnuts to give away, and reading.
Maurice is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna Beyer of Derinda Twp., Illinois; and a foster son, Gary Schnitzler and his family of Elizabeth; three brothers, Ray (Betty) Beyer of Stockton, Illinois, Lee (Loris) Beyer of Elizabeth, and Elvin J. (Dee) Beyer of San Madre, California; and five step daughters, Kathleen Randecker, Glenda Randecker, Juanita (Jim) Dixon, Cheryl Randecker, and Alecia Randecker.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irma Beyer; and one sister, Pearl Schuler.
