Maryalma I. Nobis, age 72, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away on July 12, 2008 at the Midwest Medical Center in Galena, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Hanover United Methodist Church in Hanover, Illinois. Pastor Lynne Matthews will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society in Mary’s name would be appreciated.

Maryalma was born on October 4, 1935, the daughter of Earnest and Vera (Albrecht) Atchison in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She attended High School in Racine, Wisconsin. On July 9, 1955, Maryalma married Charles Nobis in Hanover, Illinois. Mary and Charles were the first couple married by Pastor Grishkowsky in Hanover.

Over the years Maryalma worked as a Waitress, a Teachers Aid, and was an American Red Cross Volunteer. She was a member of the Hanover United Methodist Church and the Hanover United Methodist Women. Maryalma was always willing to volunteer for just about any project. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and playing bingo, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her wonderful family.

Maryalma will be dearly missed by her husband, Charles Nobis of Hanover; two sons, Jim (Debbie) Nobis of Hanover and Randy (Susan) Nobis of Warren, Illinois; a daughter, Linda Nobis of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Zachariah, Jasmine, Shannon, Charles, Jr., Marysue, Amanda and Jamie; a brother Donald Atchison of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and an aunt, Grace Nobis of Elizabeth, Illinois.

Maryalma was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mavis Toms and ZoEann Cramblet.
