Mary A. Yurcek, age 89, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A Funeral Mass will be held 8:00 a.m. Friday, September 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Friday, prior to the Mass at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Mary was born November 27, 1915 in Savanna, the daughter of Frank and Antionio (Ocetek) Yurcek. She attended St. John’s Catholic School in Savanna and was a graduate of the Savanna High School. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Savanna.
Mary worked at the Savanna Army Depot from 1942 to 1955. She worked as an assembler with explosives and small arms processing. During 1956, Mary worked for the Green Giant Corporation, Lanark, Illinois. From 1957 until 1961, Mary worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Savanna. She worked for the Savanna Variety store from 1961 to 1965. Mary worked at the National Lock factory from 1965 until 1967. Then Mary worked at the Savanna Hospital from 1967 until her retirement in 1977.
Mary is preceded in death by both parents and a sister.
