Mary L. Wild, age 77, of Hanover, Illinois, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at Law – Jones Funeral Home prior to the funeral mass. Memorials may be directed to the Elizabeth Nursing Home or to FHN Hospice.
Mary was born January 12, 1935, in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hans and Margaret (Barron) Wild. She attended country schools in Wisconsin and Illinois. Mary was a dedicated worker at the Eaton Corporation in Hanover, which later became Invensys Inc. She worked there for 34 years, retiring in 1991. Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed flower gardening, especially rosebushes, knitting on her knitting machine, shopping trips with her sisters, and could always be heard singing “I’m Off To Tipperary in the Morning.” Mary had a special place in her heart for her poodle, Pepi.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her siblings, Alberta Wild of Hanover, Illinois, William (Bev) Wild of Stockton, Illinois, Margaret Service of Clinton, Iowa, Alfred P. (Deeanna) Wild of Hanover, Nellie (Nicholas) Bainbridge of Hanover, Thomas (Lynne) Wild of Stockton, Donna (Lynn) Eadie of Hanover, and Herman R. Wild of Hanover.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, John Wild, Fredrick Wild and Michael P. Wild Sr.
