Mary M. Tressa, age 87, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Finley Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held, 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2005 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover, Illinois. Law-Jones Funeral Home of Hanover will be in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic, Pennsylvania.
Mary was born on February 22, 1918, the daughter of John and Eva (Ravi) March in Thompson, Pennsylvania. On June 18, 1934, Mary married Steven N. "Priest" Tressa in Cardale, Pennsylvania. Steven passed away, May 15, 1978 in Republic, Pennsylvania. Following the loss of her husband, Mary moved to the Hanover area to be near her children. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover, Illinois and the St. Anne’s Society.
Mary enjoyed being a Homemaker, and rearing her five children. She did crochet handwork; enjoyed playing Bingo and very much loved her dog Cricket.
Mary will be deeply missed by her two daughters: Marie (Robert) Hopkins of Hanover, Illinois; Carolyn (James) Irwin of Hanover; two sons, Stephen (Bernadine) Tressa of Brook Park, Ohio and Robert Tressa of Thompson, Pennsylvania; one son in-law, Jerry Barker of Warrenton, Virginia; ten grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Steven; one daughter, Linda Barker, who passed on November 26, 2005; three brothers and three sisters; and one daughter in-law, Agnes.
