Mary Rae Scott, age 74, of Aurora, Illinois, previously of Lanark, Illinois died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at home in Aurora surrounded by her family. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7 at SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Father Moises Apostol as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Gratiot, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 6 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Memorials may be given in Mary’s name for the St. Jude-Havre Central Middle School of 420 7th Ave, Havre, Montana 59501.
Mary was born May 26, 1932 in Havre, Montana, the daughter of Enrico and Mary (Mazzuca) Piane. She is a 1951 graduate of the Buffalo High School, Buffalo, Montana. On January 3, 1953 Mary married Kenneth Scott in Havre, Montana. Kenneth died in 1977 at Lake Carroll, Illinois. Mary and Kenneth had lived in Portland, Oregon, Warren, Illinois and then Lanark, Illinois. Mary worked for Elkay in Lanark and Savanna, Illinois for 18 years, retiring in 1997.
Mary loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She enjoyed coffee with friends, gardening, cooking and shopping. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan. She was a past member of SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll.
Mary will be deeply missed by her five children, Marietta (Dent) Preston of Maple Park, Illinois, Glenn (Kim) Scott of Monroe, Wisconsin, Maureen Scott and partner Maureen Kincaid of Aurora, Illinois, Michael (Heather) Scott of Forreston, Illinois and Melissa Scott of Amory, Mississippi; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a special friend, Jane Barnes of Lanark, Illinois. Mary is preceded in death by her husband; both parents; a brother, Carmin Piane; and a sister, Marguerite Morehouse.
