Mary K. (Hart) Savage, age 88, of Aventura, Florida, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Aventura Medical Hospital, Aventura. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna with Reverend Nancy Carr officiating. Burial will take place in the Lanark Cemetery, Lanark, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Mary’s memory.
Mary was born May 11, 1920, in Chadwick, Illinois, the daughter of William C. and Clora R. (Adams) Miller. She graduated from Lanark High School. Mary married Earl F. Hart in 1940 and later married Victor Savage on May 1, 1976, at the United Church of Christ in Savanna.
Mary worked as an insurance underwriter at the H.P. Greison Insurance Agency, Savanna, for many years. She was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, where she served as a board member and sang in the choir. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and never missed an episode of “As the World Turns”. She loved Ballroom Dancing and enjoyed teaching it to others.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Judi Risinger of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Kathy (Ron) Fossett of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; one son, Bill (Kelly) Hart of Springfield, Missouri; one step-son, Victor (Linda) Savage Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Margaret Tunwall of Savanna; one brother, Dean Miller of Lanark; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step-grandsons; one special niece, Holly (Lou) Beuscher of Chicago; and many other nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Victor; one brother, James Miller; and one son-in-law, Jerry Risinger.
