Mary Margaret Reuter, age 78 of Alamo, Texas, formerly of Sugar Creek, Iowa, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Trinity Regional Health System in Bettendorf, Iowa. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Sugar Creek, with Father Scott Lemaster as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sugar Creek. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Sugar Creek with a rosary being held at 5:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in Mary’s name.
Mary was born February 2, 1933, the daughter of John and Mary (Weis) Kilburg in Jackson County, Iowa. She attended Jackson County #2 (Kilburg School). Mary was united in marriage to Julius Reuter on November 24, 1953, in St. John Catholic Church, Andrew, Iowa.
Most of all, Mary was a faith-filled, patient, gentle woman; a homemaker; and a member of Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Sugar Creek where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Mary enjoyed square dancing, quilting, collecting angels, and camping. Mary enjoyed the time she spent in Alamo, Texas, with her husband. She also loved spending time with her entire family.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Julius; ten daughters, Geralyn (Dan) McGrath of Clinton, Iowa, Brenda (George) Kilburg of Zwingle, Iowa, Jane (Dwaine) Rickertsen of Clinton, Iowa, Barbara (Tim) Burken of Charlotte, Iowa, Jolene (Glen) Trenkamp of Preston, Iowa, Gerianne (Glen) Sprank of Bellevue, Iowa, Mary Kay (Jim) Sorensen of Preston, Iowa, Anita (Bob) Urban of Fillmore, Indiana, Lynette (Keith) Rohde of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Janine (Brian) Kueter of Bellevue, Iowa; seven sons, Gary (Julie) Reuter of Denmark, Wisconsin, Roger (Jill) Reuter of Kingwood, Texas, Ardell (Jill) Reuter of Charlotte, Iowa, Darwin (Angie) of Belle Plaine, Kansas, Gayln (Jackie) Reuter of DeWitt, Iowa, Frank (Traci) Reuter of Centennial, Colorado, and Craig (Chawna) Reuter of Kingwood, Texas; forty-five grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four sisters, Adeline “Addie” (Bernard “Red”) Kutsch, Elizabeth “Elsie” Moellers, and Janice (Bill) Portz; three brothers, John (Sharel) Kilburg, Loren “Bill” (Karen) Kilburg, and Wayne (Lois) Kilburg; and brother-in-law LaVern “Bud” Schmidt.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Norman Kilburg; a sister, Emma Schmidt; a sister-in-law, Darlene Kilburg, and a brother-in-law, Felix Moellers; and one grandson, Jonathan Reuter.
