She graduated from Hanover High School with the class of 1952. On April 18, 1954 Mary wed the love of her life, Keith Norwood. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage until Keith’s passing in 2001. Mary moved from their home in Neosho, MO to Pinnacle Place in Savanna, IL in the summer of 2020. She was previously a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Pittsburg, Kansas, and was currently a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Savanna.
Mary’s very first job was at the Savanna Army Depot as a typist, where she met her husband, Keith. She moved on and began work at the Rock Island Arsenal as a payroll supervisor. Later Mary was a secretary for Swift construction and worked for Hilton Mobile Homes. During her years in Neosho, she volunteered for Project Linus and, after Keith’s passing, was active in the Widows to Widows group. In her spare time Mary enjoyed crocheting, needlework, reading, and playing Sudoku. She enjoyed taking part in all the activities at Pinnacle Place.
Mary will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Carolyn (Don) Crawford of Hanover, IL, and Jacqueline Haug-Schulz of San Francisco, CA; two brothers, J. Edward Haug of St. Clair Shores, MI, and Thomas (Barbara) Haug of Medford, NJ; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents, John and Antoinette; and her siblings, Louise Tippett, and Bob Haug.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pinnacle Place for making her last years comfortable and care-free, and the staff at Allure for her care in her last days.
