Mary Elizabeth Libberton

Mary Elizabeth Libberton, 82, Mt. Carroll, went to be home with the Lord on August 16, 2011 with her loving family surrounding her. She was born on September 21, 1928, in Mt. Carroll, IL, the daughter of Harry and Lula (Kehl) Albrecht. She graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1946. On March 30, 1956, Mary married Neil Libberton in Mt. Carroll. During her lifetime she worked at the Marth Brothers Variety Store in Mt. Carroll, was the custodian at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church and babysat in her home. She was a member of the Mt. Carroll Methodist Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Dancing with the Stars” and spending time with her family. It became a family tradition to have lunch at her home on Sundays after church. Her home was always a gathering place for people of all ages.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Larry (Judy) of Mt. Carroll; a daughter Lori (Mike) Brummer of Savanna, IL; four grandsons: Ron Delp of Clinton, IA; Brett Libberton of Savanna and Joshua and Steven Delp of Savanna; two granddaughters: Lauren (Brett Schwandt, fiancé) Libberton of Camanche, IA and Stephanie Delp of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; a sister, Marjorie Berger of Ormond Beach, FL and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Keefer.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll with Pastor Teri Lafferty officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church and FHN Hospice.
