Mary L. Klock, age 90, of Savanna, Illinois, formerly of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with Reverend Nancy Carr officiating. Burial will take place in Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth. A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 prior to the Funeral Service. Memorials may be given to Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna in Mary’s name.
Mary was born August 1, 1919, in Savanna, Illinois the daughter of Harry S. and Nellie C. (Brown) Bahne. She attended Savanna High School, graduating with the Class of 1937. Mary worked as a Secretary for Savanna High School and Savanna Fabricators.
On September 24, 1957, Mary married Leonard Klock in Savanna. Mary and Leonard worked together on their farm in the Elizabeth- Derinda area, until Leonard passed away in 1977. Mary was the last surviving charter member of the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna. Most of all Mary enjoyed her family and friends.
Mary will be dearly missed by her daughters, Janice Hansen of Clinton, Iowa and Cheryl K. (Michael) Borders of Moweaqua, Illinois; sister-in-law, Olive Bahne of Vista, California; a niece, Lorraine Pierce of Rockford, Illinois and two nephews, Bob and Bill Bahne of Vista, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; a son-in-law, David Hansen; a brother William L. Bahne; two half-sisters, Nelda Nettleton and Hazel Lapp.
