Mary F. Holland, age 87, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Monday, June 13, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth. Burial will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Elizabeth. A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. A rosary service will be held at 2:30 p.m., prior to the visitation.
Mary was born May 6, 1924, in Streator, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Nolan) Keleher. Mary was united in marriage to Albert W. Holland on October 19, 1944 in the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth. Albert died on December 30, 1975.
Mary was a farm wife who loved caring for her family. She and her husband, Albert farmed their entire lives in Elizabeth. Mary was a member of the Church of St. Mary, where she was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Jo Daviess County Homemakers Extension Service and T.O.P.S.. Most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mary will be dearly missed by her fourteen children, Margaret (Tom) Schaefer of Dubuque, Iowa, Helen (William) Babich of Channahon, Illinois, Ilene (William) Covert of Sycamore, Illinois, Chuck Holland of Elizabeth, Thomas (Beverly) Holland of College Corner, Ohio, Jim Holland of Elizabeth, Caroline Milius of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Daniel (Jori) Holland of Freeport, Illinois, Theresa (William) Reusch of Roscoe, Illinois, Tony (Rhonda) Holland of Lansing, Michigan, Cynthia (Jozsef) Gitta of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Don (Cathy) Holland of Elizabeth, Illinois, Annette (Robert Vanderheyden) Larson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Ron (Terri) Holland of Orangeville, Illinois; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three brothers, Marlin Keleher, Vernon (Diana) Keleher and Kenneth Keleher; three sisters, Regina (Walter) Alber, Kathleen Deutsch and Charlene (Richard) Schiltz.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Albert; one son, Marvin Holland; one infant grandson; three brothers, John, Clarence and Emmett Keleher; and two sisters in infancy.
