Mary Patricia “Pat” Grundmeyer, age 75 of Sabula, Iowa, died on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa.
Mary was born on February 15, 1936, the daughter of Mark and Nina (Haigh) Thurm in Lindsay, Nebraska. Mary attended High School in Manchester, Iowa. She married Conrad J. Grundmeyer on June 12, 1957 in Manchester.
Mary was a bookkeeper for an attorney in Manchester, before moving to Sabula with her husband. She was a rural mail carrier for the Miles Post Office in Miles, Iowa, retiring in 1993. Mary and her husband, Conrad loved traveling south and being near water. Mary enjoyed cooking and was excellent at baking. Most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mary will be dearly missed by her husband, Conrad of Sabula; one daughter, Cindy Watkins of DeWitt, Iowa; two sons, Tom Grundmeyer of Denver, Colorado; and Curt Grundmeyer of Sabula, Iowa; one granddaughter, Kyle Keiran of DeWitt; two brothers, Steve (Gerry Wiant) Kendall of Coggon, Iowa and Mark (Diane) Thurm of Marion, Iowa; and one sister, Marj O’Brien of Belle Plaine, Iowa.
