Mary Evelyn Galor age 68, of Lanark, Illinois died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at FHN Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. An open house will be held in her memory at the family home, 117 E. Locust St, Lanark, Illinois on Saturday, January 30, 2010. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Mary was born January 27, 1941, in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Marion (Smith) Topp. She attended Sterling Schools. Mary was married to William “Bill” Galor on February 18, 1967 in Sterling.
Mary worked at Elkay in Lanark as a spot welder for twenty years. She also worked as a cook at the Hi-Way Café in Lanark, Mary loved being a homemaker and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a passion for flower gardening and bowling.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband William “Bill” Galor of Lanark; one daughter, Janice Majors of Lanark; ten sons, Jerry (Sheila) Galor of Rockford, Illinois, William “Bill” (Cathey) Allen of Kingsville, Texas, Robert “Bob” (Brenda) Allen of Sterling, Illinois, Doug (Julie) Galor of Loves Park, Illinois, James (Tina) Allen of Freeport, Illinois, William Galor II of Lanark, Brian (Patty) Galor of Mt. Morris, Illinois, Christopher Galor of Polo, Illinois, John (Tina) Allen of Lanark, and Patrick (Kathy) Galor of Mt. Morris; twenty – eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Gala) Topp of Sterling, and Donald (Linda) Topp of Sterling; and one sister, Ada (Rich) Phillips of Golden Valley, Arizona.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Irene Nelson; and two grandsons in infancy, William David and Dustin Edward.
