Mary Carolyn (Elsenrath) Bradt

June 28, 1931 — July 10, 2011

Mary Carolyn (Elsenrath) Bradt, age 80, of Hanover, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep from complications of Alzheimers on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 15, 10:00 am at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 5:00-8:30 pm at the Funeral Home.
Mary was born June 28, 1931 in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was the daughter of David and Velma (Elsenrath) Stratton. On January 25, 1951, Mary married Wilford R. Bradt in Galena, Illinois. He passed away January 4, 1986 in Hanover.Mary was devoted to her family and loved being a Mother and Grandmother. She was always cherishing memories of her family by filling photo albums with pictures of family gatherings. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States where she would enjoy such events as ice skating,broadway musicals, and country western musicians and family reunions. She faithfully watched the Lawrence Welk Show and loved listening to big band music. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Mary was first employed by General Electric in Morrison and worked at Eaton Corp in Hanover for thirty-five years, retiring in 1998.Mary will be dearly missed by two sons, Allen (Mary) Bradt of Hanover and Clifford (Cheryl) Bradt of Rock City, Illinois; two daughters, Judy (Tim) Sheridan of Dubuque, Iowa and Patricia (Tim) Knockel of Elizabeth, Illinois; and eleven grandchildren, Jeremy (Angie), Derek (Carissa) and Kevin Bradt, Kyle and Krista Bradt, Lesley Sheridan and Angela (Elizabeth Waddell), and Stacy Knockel(Rob Coker], Tina[Brian McVey] , Raymond and Steven Knockel. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Hunter, Lance and Daigon Coker; Rachel and Jaclyn Bradt and Devin Bradt; a sister Kay Simon of Hot Springs,AK and a stepbrother David (Suad) Stratton of Middleton, WI.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, both parents and a great granddaughter, Adrienne Zielinski.The family extends gratitude to the staff of Big Meadows Nursing Home for their love and care of Mary since 2003. We also extend sincere thanks to Beacon Hospice from Davenport and Genesis Hospice from Clinton for their love and care as well.
