Mary Pearl Cadd, age 89 of Savanna, Illinois, was called home to be with God and her many loved ones on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mount Carroll, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Pearl was born on July 15, 1920, the daughter of William and Elsie (Boblett) Cadd on Pico Mountain, near Buchanan, Virginia. She was the eldest of eleven children. Pearl attended school in Virginia and helped her parents with their large family.
Pearl was a hard worker and loved her job at Burlington Industries Carpet Factory in Glasgow, Virginia for over 35 years, retiring in 1983. She came to Savanna in 1998 to live with her daughter, Carolyn. They enjoyed their favorite things, such as spoiling the grandchildren, celebrating the holidays, planting flowers, and playing Bingo. Pearl loved the simple things in life.
Pearl will be dearly missed by her son in-law, Vic Dauphin of Savanna; three grandchildren, Lisa (Phillip) Mills of Savanna, Robbie Bahr of Princeton, Illinois; and Dennis Dauphin of Thomson, Illinois; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Francis (Samual) Bobbitt of Baltimore, Maryland, Irene Backman of Buchanan, Virginia, Ruby Shires of Roanoke, Virginia and Glenna (Wendell) Noell of Buchanan, Virginia.
Pearl was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn; granddaughter, Victoria; two brothers and four sisters.
