Marvin F. Wagner, age 66, of Preston, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Sabula, Iowa with Father Don Plamondon as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. Friends may call from 4-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Funeral Home in Preston with a Scripture Wake Service at 7:30 p.m.
Marvin was born August 26, 1938 in LaMotte, Iowa to William and Elizabeth (Olsen) Wagner. Marvin married Connie (Reistroffer) Gruhn on September 1, 1989. He worked at one time as a farmhand and then worked for CNJ Farm Service of Miles, Iowa as a manager for 29 years. He also operated his own business, Marv Wagners Agricultural Service for 9 years.
Marv enjoyed traveling, gardening, and observing the wildlife in the backyard. He raised purebred Black Angus cattle.
Marv was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He was affiliated with the Great River Thrashers and the Miles Lions Club.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Connie, of Preston; one step-son, Kurt (Tracey) Gruhn of Epworth, Iowa; three sisters, Armella Ilg of Maquoketa, Iowa, Jeannette (Jerry) Ilg of Dewitt, Iowa and Eileen Prindle of Maquoketa, Iowa; three brothers, Eugene (Loretta) Wagner of Arizona, Norbert (Marie) Wagner of Maquoketa, Iowa, Orville (Patricia) Wagner of Delmar, Iowa. Marv is preceded in death by his parents.
