Marvin Kane

May 27, 1927 — June 17, 2017

Marvin C. “Sugar” Kane, age 90, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Waverly Place, Stockton, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Derinda, Illinois.
Marvin was born on May 27, 1927, the son of Glenn and Louise (Haring) Kane in Savanna, Illinois. Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Frana Sevey on May 18, 1971 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Frana died on July 21, 1981. Marvin worked for the Milwaukee and Burlington Railroads as a mechanical technician for twenty-eight years before retiring. He was a past member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Derinda. Marvin loved working with his hands, especially fixing old machinery.
Marvin will be dearly missed by his stepdaughter, Judy Kennedy of Hanover; two nieces, Cindy (Tony) Hoffer of Savanna; and Candie (Henry Heidenreich) Bailey of Elizabeth; one nephew, Marlo (Nikki Zink) Kane of Elizabeth; longtime companion, Rochelle Macart; and close friends, Robert (Stacy) Klein and Betsy (Marty) Kinder and Caroline Slutier and Cathy Armtost; 10 great nieces, Krista Boop, Angela Zuberbuhler, Heather Brotherton, Niki Warner, Jessi Warner, Amanda Haas, Ashley Kanewischer, Lacy Orth, Kimberly Orth and Tia Richards; and 3 great nephews, Michael Haring, Joe Steffes and Ritchie Snyder, and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister; one sister, Shirley Chamberlain; one brother, LeVere Kane; two nieces, Sheryl Snyder and Debra Green; one nephew, Terry Kane; and two great nephews, Mark Haring and Brian Green.
