Martha L. Adams

Martha L. Adams, age 88, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 6, at the Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be directed to Luther Manor, 3131 Hillcrest Rd., Dubuque, Iowa, 52001.Martha was born April 17,1920, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Amanda (McGinnis) Bundy. She attended Savanna High School. Martha was united in marriage to Samuel Adams in July of 1938 in Clinton, Iowa. Samuel preceded her in death on July 1, 1979.Martha was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great – grandchildren. She was a member of the Savanna United Methodist Church, the Home Bureau, the Officer’s Wife’s Club, and the 4 C’s Club (Carroll County Country Couples). Martha enjoyed Painting and crafts, playing cards, reading, and was an excellent cook. Martha greatly enjoyed her time at Luther Manor in Dubuque, Iowa, and her family would like to thank the entire staff at Luther Manor for their kindness and consideration.Martha is survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Elmer) Merboth of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and Maureen (Patrick) Vetricek of Dubuque, Iowa; one son, Samuel (Patricia) Adams of Lynn Haven, Florida; six grandchildren, thirteen great – grandchildren, and two great – great grandchildren.Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and two sisters.
