Marna Faye McColley, age 70, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. Reverend Michael Jones of the York Baptist Church in Thomson, Illinois will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in rural Savanna, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established in Faye’s honor.
Faye was born on June 27, 1936 in Fremont, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Ila (Myers) Tropp. She attended Savanna area schools. Faye married John E. McColley on August 12, 1954 in the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband north of Savanna for many years. Faye worked for the Garment Factory in Savanna and was the first woman to drive a School Bus in Carroll County. Faye managed Century Pines Apartment Complex in Mt. Carroll for fifteen years. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. Faye enjoyed crocheting and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Faye will be missed by her husband John; five sons, David A. (Holly) McColley of Mount Carroll, William L. McColley of Sabula, Iowa, Edward E. (Kimberly) McColley of Savanna, Mark A. McColley of Mount Carroll and Matthew J. (Mary) McColley of Sabula; two daughters, Mona M. Popkin of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jill L. (Wayne) Story of Mount Carroll; her mother Ila Dede of St. Paul, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria (Tom) Longbern of St. Paul and Terril (Ronnie) Basile of Bettendorf, Iowa. Faye was preceded in death by her father, Harold.
