Mark Leavens

Mark Leavens, age 57, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date with inurnment to take place in Savanna Township Cemetery.
Mark was born on June 27, 1959, the son of Augustus Sr., and Pauline (Dunstan) Leavens in the old Savanna hospital overlooking the Mississippi River. He attended Savanna Schools.
Mark worked as a commercial fisherman on the Mississippi River. He had the challenges in life of dealing with diabetes for over 25 years, and losing his eyesight and dialysis for the last seven years. Throughout his illness he kept his sense of humor and persevered. Mark loved fishing, and continued to fish with his family up until last year.
Mark will be dearly missed by his son, Mark Leavens, Jr. of Live Oak, Florida; two brothers, Gus (Paula) Leavens, Jr., and Cliff (Tina) Leavens, both of Savanna; three sisters, Donna (Terry) Bottrell of Savanna, Linda Mallow of Clinton, Iowa, and Margie Stricker of Rockford, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Pauline.
