Marjorie Julia Driscoll, age 93 of Preston, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. Burial will take place Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston.
Marjorie was born May 4, 1922, to Fred and Nettie (Maybohm) Neumann in Preston. She had her Confirmation at St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1936. Marjorie attended Preston High School, graduating with the Class of 1939. She then went on to attend Junior College in Maquoketa. After college, Marjorie worked at Streuser Pharmacy in Preston, where she met Leo Driscoll, who would become her husband on June 26, 1943. They celebrated 53 years together before Leo died on July 20, 1996.
Marjorie was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Preston Senior Citizens. She was an avid Cubs fan who loved to read and play Bonko. She also loved playing card games—her favorite was “500”.
Marjorie will be dearly missed by her nine children, Daniel (Phyllis) Driscoll of Charlotte, Iowa, Thomas (Shirley) Driscoll of Preston, Gary (Ruth) Driscoll of Preston, Allen (Deb) Driscoll of Clinton, Susan (Jack) Kuhlman of Maquoketa, Iowa, Judith (Dwaine) McCutcheon of Clarkston, Michigan, Paul (Candy) Driscoll of Preston, Larry (Karen) Driscoll of Spragueville, Iowa, and David (Marci) Driscoll of Preston; 25 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; two brothers, Dr. Arlo Neumann of Orange City, Iowa and Carl (Myrna) Neumann of Clinton; two sisters, Shirley Gillespie of Forest City, Minnesota and Karen (Walter) Empen of Preston, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Ann Neumann of Janesboro, Arkansas and Pheobe Neumann of Preston; and one brother-in-law, Bill Flood of Muscatine, Iowa.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Leo; one son, Ronald, a granddaughter, Penny Jo; one daughter-in-law, Sharon; two brothers, Darryl and Fredrick Neumann; two sisters, Cleo Leslie and Nancy Flood; a sister-in-law, Virginia Neumann; and her parents.
