Marita June Myers

Marita Myers, age 84, of Mt. Carroll, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Allure Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 Wednesday, July 31, 2019, prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established in Marita’s honor. The family requests that attendees refrain from wearing perfumes due to family allergies.

Marita was born June 8, 1935, in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Yoeman) Frederick. On July 6, 1956, Marita married Leslie Myers. They raised two children and celebrated 40 years of marriage until Les’s passing in 1997.

Marita worked as a seamstress for most of her life. She also provided child care for many years, even sitting for kids at 80 years old. She was a member of Oakville golf league and was a good bowler. She always was on the go. She loved kids, and her pride and joy in life were her great-grandchildren.

Marita will be dearly missed by her son Mitchell (Laureen) Myers of Mercer, Wisconsin; her daughter, Debbie (Ray) Miller of Byron, Illinois; four granddaughters, Kali Matson, Kelsey (Wade) Novak, Kinzie (Richard) Macias and Coya (Zack) Shorter; four great-grandchildren, Colt, Hannah, Raelyn and Kaine; with one due in August, Jase; and a sister, Ruby (James) Johnson of Mt. Carroll. Marita is preceded in death by her husband Les; her parents Ralph and Ethel; her brother, Larry; and her sister, Arta Lou Schriener.
