Marion R Schaible

Marion R. Schaible, age 99, of Elizabeth, Illinois died Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Dubuque Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 20 at the Zion Presbyterian Church, Schapville, Illinois, with Pastor Dottie Morizzo and the Reverend Douglas Hall officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 19 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.. A memorial fund has been established in Marion’s name.
Marion was born April 7, 1907 on the family farm, rural Hanover, Illinois, the son of John and Anna (Krippendorf) Schaible. Marion attended the Pleasant Hill Country School and graduated from the Hanover High School with the Class of 1926. Marion married Ruby Anchultz, he later married Phyllis Turner on October 27, 1966.
He worked for Socony Vacuum Oil (Mobil Oil) for many years. Marion also drove school bus for the Elizabeth School District. He retired from Atwoods in Stockton after working several years.
Marion was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church, Schapville, the Kavanagh Masonic Lodge, Elizabeth and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Freeport Consistery. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring antiques, dancing and going out to eat. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago White Sox fan. He had the fortune of throwing out the “first pitch” on August 25, 2002 for his 95th birthday.
Marion will be dearly missed by his wife, Phyllis of Elizabeth; his daughter, Helen Kilgore of Elizabeth; a step-son, Elwyn (Rosemary) Meyer of Galena; a son in-law, Joe Fosler of Freeport; nine grandchildren, Denise (Dan) Green of Galena, Herb (Cindy) Wilson of Monroe, WI, Julie (Robert) Nesbitt of Mukilteo, WA, Kevin (Margie) Schaible of Collinsville, IL, Kerry (Fran) Schaible of Cherry Valley, IL, Kelly (Stuart) Hendricks of Cherry, IL, Joanne Fosler of Freeport, K.C. (Wendy) Schaible of Rockford and Keith (Wendy) Schaible of Rockford; eight step-grandchildren, Patrick (Sherry) Kilgore of Lebanon, PA, Michael (Monica) Kilgore of Dubuque, Charles (JoAnne) Kilgore of Albuquerque, NM, Joyce (Brian) Carlin of New Glarus, WI, Judy (Russell) Kieffer of Galena, John (Mary) Meyer of McAlester, OK, Connie Meyer of Waterloo, Iowa and Barbara Meyer of Boscobel, WI; 69 great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; 35 great-great grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren; a sister in-law, Doris Goff of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marion is preceded in death by a son, Harvey; a daughter, Ruth Fosler; a son-in-law, Gordon Kilgore; four brothers, Wes, Bill, Ralph and Charles; and a sister, Myrtle Gamble.
