Marilyn Mae VanDeVelde, age 77, of Chadwick, Illinois died, Monday, February 26, 2007 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 at SS John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Burial will be the Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 2 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll.
Marilyn was born June 11, 1929 the daughter of George and Mary (Kapple) Hadley in Fairfield Twp., Illinois. Marilyn attended Manlius High School graduating with the Class of 1948. On December 9, 1950, Marilyn married William B. VanDeVelde in Sheffieled, Illinois. William died in Freeport, Illinois on May 2, 2006.
Marilyn took much pride in being a homemaker. She also worked in the bookkeeping profession for many years. She and her husband were the owners operator’s of “Bill’s Oil” in Chadwick for over twenty years. She was a member of SS John and Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Women’s Club, and Ladies Society. Marilyn enjoyed crocheting and playing Pinochle. Most important to Marilyn was spending time with her friends and family.
Marilyn will be dearly missed by her daughter, Lisa (Thomas) Grentz, of Loves Park, Illinois; two grandchildren Justin and Phillip; and one sister Gladys (August) Rombout of Wyanet, Illinois.
Marilyn is preceded in death by both parents, her husband William VanDeVelde; one son Vincent H. VanDeVelde; two brothers Clarence Hadley and Jerry Hadley ; and one sister June Schmidt.
