Marilyn "Lynne" Hesselbacher

Marilyn “Lynne” Hesselbacher, age 70, of Elizabeth, Illinois, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a local hospice organization of your choice.
Lynne was born January 20, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Chester and Annadee (Dodge) Magnuson. She attended Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana, and graduated with the Class of 1963. Lynne married Wayne Hesselbacher on June 6, 1964. They lived in California, Washington state, and Montana before moving to Elizabeth in 1974. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2014.
Lynne’s career included fourteen years as secretary to the general manager at the Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort, ten years as a realtor for Old Northwest Land Co. and McCoy Real Estate, and several years at the Elizabeth Food Center. She retired in 2010 after six years as produce manager at Wal-Mart in Galena.
Lynne served two terms as mayor of Elizabeth. She was a Brownie and Cub Scout leader and also served as president of the Elizabeth Fair Board for many years. Lynne was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing cards and board games. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, particularly her beloved grandchildren.
Lynne will be dearly missed by her husband, Wayne; two children, Allen (Beth) Hesselbacher of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and Kristin (Jeff Heinrich) Hesselbacher of Janesville, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Zach, Harry, Emily, and Hannah; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Annadee; and her brother, Bill.
