Marie A. Hansen

Marie A. Hansen, age 76, of Savanna, Illinois died June 8, 2016, at Eagle Point Nursing Home, Clinton, Iowa. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Saturday June 11, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with prayer service following at 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in Marie’s memory.
Marie was born February 1, 1940, in Story City, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Lilla (Asklund) Stuhldryer. She attended schools in Maquoketa and graduated high school with the Class of 1957. On June 5, 1958, Marie married Martin Hansen. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before Martin’s death on January 17, 2013.
Marie was a homemaker that enjoyed raising her family. She was a successful gardener with a “Green Thumb” and always had plenty of colorful flowers surrounding her home. She often joined her husband and volunteered her time, supporting many Shriner community events. Most of all, Marie cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marie will be missed by her four children; Kristina (Rich) Smith of Clinton, Iowa, Kimberly Hansen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Kathleen Hansen of Clinton, Iowa, and Kent (Jody) Hansen of Savanna; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Denny (Diane) Stuhldryer of Texas, Reggie (Connie) Stuhldryer of Boone, Iowa, Curt (Pat) Stuhldryer of Ogden, Iowa, and Arley (Linda Silver) Stuhldryer of Ocean Shores, Washington; and a sister Sandy Watters of East Moline, Illinois. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her parents; two brothers, Larry and Sterling Stuhldryer; and a sister, Barb Weltz.
