Marie E. Frederick

June 23, 1932 — January 18, 2014

Marie E. Frederick, age 81 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, had a terrific sense of humor and never lost her temper with anyone. On Saturday, January 18, 2014 she passed through the gates of heaven and into the embrace of those that have gone on before her. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Church of God in Mt. Carroll with Reverend Vince Wilczynski officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Marie’s memory.
Marie was born on June 23, 1932 the daughter of Leslie and Lucy (Morhardt) Frederick on the family farm in Skunk Hollow rural Mt. Carroll. She attended and graduated from Mt. Carroll High School. Marie worked for the Deaconess Hospital in Freeport which later was named the Freeport Health Network Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1997.
Marie enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was a die hard Cubs fan and enjoyed watching all their games even if they didn’t always win. Marie was the longest living member of the Church of God in Mt. Carroll, church was very important to her. Most of all, Marie cherished spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Marie will be dearly missed by her sister, Shelvy (Dale) Endress of Mt. Carroll; one brother, Carl Frederick of Rock Falls, Illinois; five sister’s-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Floyd, Dean, Leo, Sherman, Harvey; two sisters, Bernice Maszk, Virginia Zimmerman.
