Margaret "Marty" Turney

Margaret "Marty" Turney, age 88, of Chadwick, Illinois, died Wednesday April 30, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, Illinois. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick. Burial will take place in the Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick Ambulance or the American Legion Auxiliary.
Margaret was born January 30, 1926, the daughter of Chester and Bertha (Kness) Kahler in Chadwick. She attended Chadwick High School and graduated with the Class of 1943. She married Glen C. Turney on January 18, 1947. Glen died August 15, 2001.
Margaret farmed with her husband for 42 years until they moved in town in 1991. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Auxilliary. She enjoyed the time she spent farming, camping and traveling with Glen. She also loved gardening and cooking, and was famous for her caramels and peanut brittle.
Margaret will be dearly missed by her sister, Frances (William) Schryver of Milledgeville; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Chester and Bertha; her sister, Beth Turney; and a nephew, David Turney.
