Margaret Symons, of Stockton, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Margaret was born on September 18, 1954, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, to Donald and Marie Symons. She was raised in Galena, Illinois, where she attended Galena Public School. She spent most of her life in Galena and Stockton, creating a warm and welcoming presence in both communities.
Over the years, Margaret worked at several local establishments, including Cannova’s, Log Cabin, Chestnut, and Eagle Ridge Resort. However, she found a second family at The Workshop, where she worked for over 30 years. She took pride in her work, contributing in various roles, including the catheter room, the Scenic Overlook, and packaging assembly pieces. More recently, she enjoyed assisting at the Gifted Hands Thrift Store.
Margaret had a knack for many things and often said she was "good at anything really." She deeply appreciated kindness from others and cherished spending time with friends at Anderson Apartments. She loved outings to the casino, dining out, and traveling, with memorable trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and New York. Margaret had an eye for fashion and always made sure to look her best, delighting in getting her hair done. She was known for her legendary potato salad, her love for the color purple, and her enjoyment of the song “Pretty Woman.” She also found joy in her free time, often using her tablet to stay entertained.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, special cousins, and her two beloved cats, Tiger and Shorty Cakes.
A special thank you to those who cared for Margaret and became her dear friends at Rainbow Ridge, Kreider Services, LSSI, and The Workshop.
Margaret’s warmth, kindness, and spirited personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
