Margaret C. Roling

Margaret C. Roling, age 97, of Preston, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Preston, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will take place at the church from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Sugar Creek Cemetery. Margaret was born on February 13, 1925, in Sugar Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Christina (Banowetz) Trenkamp. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Sugar Creek with the class of 1939. On November 24, 1947, Margaret married Adrian Roling. Together they had five children.

Margaret was a homemaker and always enjoyed her gardens. She loved a good game of cards. Margaret was gifted with the talents for sewing as well as being a skilled quilter. She had also perfected making angel food cakes. When she donated a cake to a bake sale, her angel food cakes were always the first cakes to go! Margaret was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Preston. She was a prayerful woman who raised her children in a loving Catholic environment. She instilled a strong work ethic and a love for family.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Dale (Linda) Roling of Sugar Creek, Iowa, and Gary (Doris) Roling of Sugar Creek, Iowa; two daughters, Nancy Roling of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Janet Roling of Preston, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leo Trenkamp of Maquoketa, Iowa. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Adrian; her daughter, Donna Roling; her parents; one grandson; 11 brothers, Jack, August, Joseph, Bernie, Frank, Bill, Angel, Ed, Hank, Ray and Jimmy; 6 sisters, Caroline, Marie, Eva, Kate, Minnie and Theresa.
