Margaret G. Brown, age 89, of Coggon, Iowa, most recently of Bellevue, Iowa, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Coggon Cemetery.
Margaret was born October 24, 1921, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mildred (Garven) Griffith. She graduated from Hopkinton High School with the Class of 1939. Margaret married Floyd R. Brown on December 13, 1941, in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Margaret and Floyd owned Brownies Jack & Jill Grocery Store in Coggon from 1953 until retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star. Margaret enjoyed going to family gatherings, spending time at their cabin on Lake Delhi and boating. Margaret spent the last twelve years at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue and her family would like to thank the staff for all of their care and kindness.
Margaret is survived by her son, Kenneth (Jodi) Brown of Bellevue, Iowa; three grandchildren, Melissa Hanifen of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jason (Tommie) Brown of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Jarad (Monica) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; three great grandchildren; one sister, Janet Heiserman of Moore, Oklahoma; two nephews and one niece.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Floyd.
