Margaret was born April 3, 1930 in Savanna, the daughter of Clyde and Myrtle (Parker) Morgan. She attended Mt. Carroll Schools graduating with the Class of 1948. Margaret met the future love of her life, Marvin, in the fifth grade. She always knew they would marry which they did on June 11, 1950 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Carroll. They “survived” successfully raising three rambunctious sons and celebrated sixty-six years of marriage.
Margaret loved family life. She and Marvin enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. For many years they lived in Riverview, savoring being by the Mississippi River before returning to Mt. Carroll. In the early 60s, Margaret worked as Mt. Carroll’s first Meter-Maid. She continued her community service by serving on the city council in the 70s.
Her primary career was working in the insurance industry- first at Crum & Forester Insurance and then with Country Companies progressing to the position of Claims Representative. She enjoyed a wide range of interests and hobbies including tagging monarch butterflies, birdwatching, sewing, knitting, cake decorating, and working with stained glass.
Margaret will be dearly missed by three sons, Marvin (Beth) Bausman, Jr. of Beloit, Wisconsin, Kirk (Kathy) Bausman of Hawthorn, Nevada and Jodi (Cathy) Bausman of Mt. Carroll; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and one brother,Douglas (Lillian) Morgan of Comanche, Iowa.
