Margaret R. Drake, age 84, of Argo Fay, Illinois, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Argo Fay Methodist Church in Argo Fay, Illinois. Reverend Michael Jones of the York Baptist Church in Thomson, Illinois will officiate. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Margaret’s name to Argo Fay Methodist Church or American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1025.
Margaret was born on June 5, 1922 in Fenton, Illinois, the daughter of David J. and Rose M. (Hillyer) Bealer. She married Wayne Drake on February 26, 1949 in Fenton, Illinois. Wayne died on January 9, 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Margaret attended Fenton grade school and graduated from Erie High School with the class of 1941. She retired in 1982 from General Electric in Morrison, Illinois where she had worked for seventeen years. Margaret was a member of Argo Fay Methodist Church, Methodist Ladies Aid Association, the American Legion Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and GEM Club at General Electric, Morrison. She also served on Carroll County Help Center Board. Margaret enjoyed assisting the community with various projects. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Margaret will be dearly missed by her two sons Dale Evan (Terri) Drake of Beaufort, South Carolina and Jon Wayne (LuAnn) Drake of Glendale, Arizona; and one daughter Ruth Ann Stirewalt of Elizabeth, Colorado; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister Beverly Bruce of Charleston, South Carolina and one sister-in-law Gerry Bealer of Thomson, Illinois.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wayne; one grandson Mike Stirewalt and one brother David Bealer.
