Marcie Ann Arno, age 56, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside in Rockford, Illinois, just days after suffering a sudden stroke at her home.
In keeping with the generous and caring way Marcie lived her life, she and her family chose to give the gift of life through organ donation. Her life was one of purpose, and even in her passing, Marcie continued to give.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. A Celebration of Life will also be held at 1:00 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Manny’s Pizza in Savanna.
Marcie was born January 14, 1970, the daughter of Edward and Sheri (Miller) Traum. She grew up in Mt. Carroll and graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1988. She went on to attend Western Illinois University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement education, with a minor in sociology, graduating in 1992.
From a young age, Marcie had a heart for helping people. After working as an intern with the Carroll County Probation Office, she began her career as a probation officer in December of 1992. What started as an opportunity to serve became a lifelong calling. Marcie devoted 33 years to the State of Illinois and Carroll County, working as a juvenile probation officer and later serving as Chief Managing Officer with the Carroll County Probation Department.
Marcie believed in meeting people where they were and helping point them toward a better path. In a newspaper article written when she first began her career, Marcie said, “I can’t perform any miracles, but I can be there to help and point them in the right direction.” Those words reflected not only her approach to her work, but also the kind of person she was—steady, compassionate, direct, and deeply committed to making a difference.
Marcie married Kurt Arno, and together they made their home in Mt. Carroll. She was the proud mother of Brianna Kampmeier . Marcie’s family and friends were an important part of her life, and she treasured the relationships she had with those closest to her. She also dearly loved her dogs, Stella and Ivy.
Marcie is survived by her husband, Kurt Arno of Mt. Carroll; her daughter, Brianna Kampmeier of Coal Valley; her mother, Sheri Traum; two sisters, Laurie Hawk and her husband Bill of Mt. Carroll, and Stacie Kemp and her husband Josh of Dixon, Illinois; her nephew, Riley Hawk; and her nieces, Ellie and Ava Kemp.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Traum.
