Marcella "Aunt Sally" I. Harmon

Marcella “ Aunt Sally” I. Harmon, age 92, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday March 29, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, friends may also gather from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Caroline Mark Home in Mt. Carroll and also to the Carroll County Good Samaritan in Sally’s memory.
Sally was born February 11, 1921, in Freedom Township, Carroll County, the daughter of Bert A. and Martha Marie (Dale) Yochem. She worked as a nurse from 1957 to 1980 for Dr. E. M. Colli and later worked for Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll for several years.
Sally was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll and helped with the delivery of the Meals on Wheels thru the church. She enjoyed gardening, walking her dog “Blatz”, mowing her yard and helping with haymaking. Sally was a doting Aunt to her nieces and nephews, always supporting and attending front and center at their concerts, ballgames, programs and activities and visited and followed their adult lives through graduations, weddings, and new babies. Aunt Sally was loved in return. She was a Cubs fan and really enjoyed going out for lunch or dinner.
Sally is survived by three nephews Dennis (Shevawn) Yochem of Mt. Carroll, Darryl (Carol) Yochem of Raleigh, North Carolina, Gary Katzenberger of Mt. Carroll; two nieces, Diane (Brent) Peters of Milledgeville, Illinois, Linda (Russ) Handy of Warrens, Wisconsin; many great nephews and great nieces; sister in-law, Dorothy Yochem of Mt. Carroll. Sally is preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother in-law Helen (Ernest) Katzenberger; a brother Harold Yochem.
