Marcella T. Dimpfl, age 94 of Chadwick, Illinois died on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Chadwick Cemetery, Chadwick, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 p.m., prior to the visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Oakley Courts Assisted Living Community, 3117 Kunkle Blvd, Freeport, Illinois 61032 in Marcella’s memory.
Marcella was born on April 20, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Leona (Otter) Meudt in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. She completed 8th grade at a country school and then helped work on the family farm. Marcella married Philip Dimpfl on November 27, 1948 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Philip died on September 12, 1984.
Marcella and Philip moved to Chadwick in 1951. Marcella worked for Elkay Manufacturing in Mt. Carroll for several years, retiring in 1962. She also worked at General Electric, Morrison and as a waitress in several local restaurants. After retiring, Marcella spent most of her time helping her neighbors and friends. Marcella was a determined woman, always busy and on the move. Marcella was a member of SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll.
Marcella will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Diane (Steve) Frankeberger of Mt. Carroll, and Janet Engleking of Chadwick; five grandchildren, Philip Engleking of DeKalb, Illinois, Rita (Lloyd Hunt) Engleking of Dixon, Illinois, Monica (Kurt) Cook-Sunderman of Chicago, Illinois, Carol (James) Wells of DesMoines, Iowa, and Steven (Janelle) Frankeberger, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four great grandchildren, Ethan Wells, Blake Frankeberger, and Anja and Evelyn Sunderman; and several nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Philip; son in-law, Fredric Cook; one granddaughter, Alexandra Engleking; three brothers and three sisters.
