Mable Lorrene West

On May 26, 2022, Mable Lorrene West, of Savanna, IL, passed away at the age of 93, at her home with her family beside her. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9th, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, with a celebration of Lorrene’s life to follow at Manny’s Pizza in Savanna. A short visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Lorrene was born to Clarence and Bernice (Clay) Johns on December 11th, 1928, in Savanna. She went to Washington Township School on Dean Road and graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1946. She married John Breuning and had four children; Gloria Scott, Jeannette (Jason) Sturtevant, Peggy Cini, and Richard (Dee) Breuning. She later married Maxwell West and had one daughter Mary West.

Lorrene worked retail in Savanna, Eaton Controls, and the Savanna State Bank. She loved baking and was known for her angel food cakes. Lorrene and Mac loved going to sales and traveling. They lived in Leesville, LA, for a period of time and after Mac retired in 1987, they moved back up north to be around family. She started every day with her devotions, paper, and a cup of coffee. She hand tied many baby blankets, and gave them away.

Lorrene will be dearly missed by her four children, ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Marie Burkeljack. Lorrene is preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell, her parents, four sisters, one brother, and her daughter, Mary.
