Lynn Joy Leighton, age 66, of Hanover, Illinois, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the Galena Nursing Home, Galena, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Lynn’s memory.
Lynn was born on March 23, 1951, in Merrill, Wisconsin, the daughter of Nathan and Margaret (Godslechie) Cornish. She attended Marrow High School, graduating with the Class of 1970. On December 24, 1974, Lynn married Harvey Leighton in Mt. Carroll.
Lynn worked for the Eaton Corporation and at the Hanover Invensys Factory for many years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, painting, and going to art shows. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends in Savanna.
Lynn will be missed by her husband of 42 years, Harvey; a brother, Leslie Cornish of Wausaw, Wisconsin; a sister, Loretta (Don) Schultz of Las Cruces, New Mexico; three sisters-in-law, Doris (Harold) Haggerty, Phyllis (Steve) Schneider, and Rosie (the late Tom) Haring; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and twin sisters.
