Lynn C Eadie, age 72, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Midwest Medical Center in Galena, Illinois. Burial of cremated remains will take place at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover with a luncheon at the VFW afterwards. Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover.
Lynn was born April 2, 1943, the son of Clarence “Cap” and Barbara (Hendershott) Eadie. He graduated Hanover High School with the Class of '61. Lynn married the love of his life, Donna Wild, on June 5, 1971. He owned and operated the Mobile Station in Hanover. Lynn was the Hanover Chief of Police. He raised cattle on the family farm and hauled livestock throughout the Tri-States.
Lynn treasured the time he spent with his sons and especially cherished his grandchildren. A natural tale-teller, Lynn relished sharing anecdotes about his experiences. And in those stories a life was revealed. From drag racing to copping. From ouija boards to backroads. He shared the history—eyes glimmering—of the homesteaded Eadie farm. He brought to life cantankerous Uncle Donald and even Donald's ghost. Having many adventures while hauling livestock, he found the comical in a sometimes frustrating profession. His most favorite story of all was how he met his wife: Pulling her over for speeding (he didn't give her a ticket).
Lynn will be dearly missed by his wife, Donna; two sons, Cap (special friend Cecilia) of Hanover, Charlie of Snoqualmie, Washington; three grandchildren, Natalie and Ella Eadie and Brinley Berning. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith Eadie, and a nephew, Calvin Eadie.
