Lynda Marlene Peters

Lynda Peters, age 61, of Savanna, IL, passed away suddenly, at Clinton Mercy Hospital on March 6, 2023. A celebration of Lynda's life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Inurnment will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.

Lynda was born May 23, 1961, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of William and Marilyn (Sullivan) Locher. Due to her father’s military career, she and her family moved around quite a bit throughout her childhood, but ultimately made it back to the Chicago area, where she graduated from Fenton High School in Bensonville, IL.

Lynda went to work as a salesperson of Nordstrom Department Store, a role in which she excelled for many years. She later worked for a cleaning service and then did foreclosure work with her husband, Patrick Donegan.

Just a few months before her passing, Lynda and Patrick moved out to the Savanna area, to retire. They fell in love with this area, and more importantly with the people who live here. The warmth they received from this community made them feel right at home. And if you knew Lynda, that kind of warmth was well deserved. She had a heart of gold, and throughout her life she shared whatever she could with those in need. She took in multiple children and young adults over the years, giving them a platform from which they could improve their lives. All she ever required in return for that kindness, was respect.

Lynda was an avid animal lover, owning many pets throughout her life. She truly enjoyed all aspects of nature. She could spend hours watching the animals and birds out her windows, and loved gardening and fishing, and in the warm months she spent as much time as she could, pool-side. The only thing she cherished more than her time outside, was her two daughters, and her family.

Lynda will be dearly missed by her daughters, Krystal Alexander and Diamond Peters, both of Arizona; grandchildren, Riley, Evelyn, Hunter, Colton, Kayden; husband, Patrick; honorary son, Edi Naco, of Plainfield, IL; brother, William (Terry) Locher, of Wilmington, IL; and nephew and niece, Cody and Haley. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, William and Marilyn Locher, and her Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Alice Donegan.
